Method
-
Heat the oven to 350°F and line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment, leaving an overhang on two sides.
-
Stir the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter together until every crumb is damp, then press firmly into an even layer in the pan.
-
Pour the condensed milk over the crust in a slow, even stream so it covers the whole surface.
-
Scatter the chocolate chips over the condensed milk, then the butterscotch chips, then the pecans, then finish with the coconut, pressing each layer down gently before adding the next.
-
Bake until the coconut is deep golden brown at the edges and toasted in patches across the top, 28 to 32 minutes.
-
Cool completely in the pan, at least 2 hours, before lifting out by the parchment and cutting into squares.
Notes
No mixer, no creaming, no eggs — the condensed milk is the only thing binding the layers together, so don’t rush the bake or the cool. Pull it while the coconut looks perfect and the center will still be loose underneath; wait for real color across the whole top rather than a few dark spots.
These are rich enough that a small square is the right size, and they keep at room temperature, well wrapped, for a week. Swap walnuts for the pecans, or leave them out entirely for a nut-free version.
